RULES AND
REGULATIONS
Every class offered herein which
is covered by the rules and specifications of the current Federation
Rule Book and will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith.
(Rule XIV. Chapter 1. Article 1402)
The Official rulebook of the USAEQ shall prevail. This Prize List is
based on rules of the current rulebook. Any changes or corrections
of rules will automatically become a part of this Prize List. Each
participant in the show is responsible for knowledge of and is
subject to the USAEQ Rules.
ELIGIBILITY: All purebred horses must be registered with the
Arabian Horse Registry or, if under one year of age, be eligible for
registry and registration applied for and must be entered under
their full registered name. Half-Arabian and/or Anglo Arabian
registry or be eligible for registry and registration applied for
and must be entered under their full registered name. Half-Arabian
colts/stallions are excluded from all halter classes; however, they
may compete in Half-Arabian performance classes.
Entries must be sent with a copy of the following: Amateur Card,
USAEQ Membership Card, AHA Membership Card and registration for each
horse entered and a current negative Coggins test result for each
horse (within twelve months). You may apply for membership at the
show and you must do so BEFORE picking up your numbers. USAEQ and
AHA allow affidavits to be signed for those who have joined or
renewed but have not received their cards. Affidavits are available
in the show office. All entries must be accompanied by a SIGNED,
COMPLETED check or money order payable to MISSISSIPPI ARABIAN HORSE
ASSOCIATION to cover original entry fees to include stall fee(s) and
one class fee. No entries will be accepted and no stalls reserved
unless accompanied by a detailed description of how the money is to
be applied. THOSE EXHIBITORS DESIRING TO BE STALLED TOGETHER MUST
SEND STALL RESERVATION FORMS TO THE SHOW SECRETARY IN THE SAME
ENVELOPE.
There may be only one owner per entry blank. Every exhibitor or his
agent and trainer MUST sign the entry blank in all places. No person
under 18 may sign as a trainer, Rule IV, Art. 404. A horse must be
entered in the name of his recorded owner and the address of the
recorded owner given. If the name shown on the registration papers
is different from the person entering the horse, an affidavit, copy
of the sales contract or authorization form must accompany the
entry. Farm names will be used as “OWNER” only if the stable or farm
is the owner appearing on the horse’s registration papers and is
registered with USAEQ. When horses are entered by an agent the
owner’s name and address must be given. All horses entered on an
entry form must belong to the same owner. NO HORSE MAY BE ENTERED ON
MORE THAN ONE ENTRY FORM.
ENTRY DEADLINE: ENTRIES CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT JULY 16th, 2007 AT
REGULAR FEES and must be postmarked not later than midnight on the
closing date. Horses not previously entered prior to midnight, July
16th, 2007, will be charged for a ONE TIME post entry fee of an
additional $20.00 per horse or equitation rider.
NOTE: Improperly filled out entries will be returned and not
considered as meeting the deadline date unless corrected and
postmarked before that date.
REFUSAL OF ENTRIES: The management may refuse any or all
entries, and return any money paid for stalls and entries without
liability or compensation. (See Rule XV Art. 1509 for complete
details.)
SHOW ACCOUNTS: Prize monies will be paid by check within 30
days of the close of the show and mailed. Prize checks must be
cashed within 30 days of the date on the check. A blank signed check
payable to Mississippi Arabian Horse Association is required to be
left in the show office. This does not relieve the exhibitor from
settling the show account prior to departure from the show.
SHOW INDEBTEDNESS: Entries sent with checks that cannot be
cashed will be refused or charged the late entry fee. Any exhibitor
who fails to settle his indebtedness to this show will automatically
be barred from taking any part whatsoever in any USAEQ recognized
show until settlement is made (USAEQ Rule XV, Chapter II, Art.
1508). Checks returned for Non Sufficient Funds will be assessed a
$30.00 service charge. If management must avail itself of the
remedies under the USAEQ Rule an additional $25.oo penalty will be
assessed.
REFUNDS of entry fees, except office fees will be made with
veterinary certificate or physician’s statement regarding illness of
horse or rider respectively if received by the Show Secretary by
midnight July 6th, 2005. No fees will be refunded after July 16th,
2007. Stall fees (tack, horse) and office fees will not be refunded
under any circumstances.
IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS: Every horse entered in the show will
be assigned an identification number. It is important for the proper
handling of the show, that riders and handlers in all classes wear
correct number. NUMBER TO BE WORN ON EXHIBITOR’S BACK – Article
1213.8.
ADD/SCRATCH CLASSES: Entry fees are not refundable. If a
horse is scratched from one class and simultaneously added to
another on the same form, there will be no additional charge for the
added class. Add/Scratch forms are available in the Show Office and
must be submitted to the Show Secretary or Show office clerk.
DISCIPLINE: Exhibitors are warned that any act of discourtesy
or disobedience to the official on the part of the owner, groom,
rider, driver, or member of the family of the person participating
in the show will disqualify the horse from adjudication. The
management reserves the right to remove a groom, rider or driver
from the show without being liable for compensation or damages.
PROTEST: Must be made in accordance with USAEQ. The Show
Committee shall decide questions not covered by USAEQ rules and its
decision shall be final.
OFFICIALS: In the event that due to illness or failure of a
Show Official to attend this show or perform hid duties, the Show
Committee reserves the right to substitute another Show Official in
accordance with Rule VII.
JUDGING SYSTEM: The single judging system will be used during
this competition. All classes will be judged and those placing shall
prevail.
ADMISSION TO RING: No person will be allowed to enter the
ring except participants in the class, judges, and their assistants
and show officials. Attendants and grooms may enter the ring only
when summoned by order of the judge. Attendants and grooms who enter
the ring shall be considered a part of the show team and must be
neatly dressed in proper show attire.
DISQUALIFICATION: Refer to USAEQ Rule III Chapter 1, Art.
302, Rule IV & VII. Any horse doctored in any way artificially,
improperly or unfairly prepared or tampered with before entering the
show ring will be disqualified, the winner of the nest succeeding
prize in the class shall take the prize that has been awarded to
such disqualified animal and all other placing in the class shall
move up accordingly.
CALL FOR CLASSES: The show will be run according to USAEQ
Article 310. The two minute limit for gates will be strictly
enforced. Exhibitors are warned about entering successive classes.
Tack changes will be granted for horses or exhibitors in
back-to-back classes only. All requests for tack changes should be
given to the PADDOCK MASTER AT THE START OF EACH SESSION.
TIMES SCHEDULED: Provided the order of events is not changed,
the show committee may call any class up to 30 minutes ahead of its
scheduled time.
CANCELLATION OR COMBINATION OF CLASSES: The Mississippi
Arabian Horse Association reserves the right to cancel any class
when there are less than three (3) entries, and combine or divide
any class or classes should it be in the best interest of the show.
Entry fees will be refunded for classes canceled by the management.
CHAMPIONSHIP HALTER CLASSES: Halter Show Champion and Reserve
Champion shall be at least two years old as defined in Article 1608.
Halter Championships are conducted in accordance with Article 335
and 1605. Arabian and Half-Arabian yearling geldings may compete for
Champion gelding.
CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW BACK RULE: First, second and third place
winners in designated qualifying classes, are required to show back
in the Championship classes or forfeit prize money. To prevent any
undue hardships, entries qualifying in multiple performance classes
are required to show back in only one (1) performance championship.
The exhibitor may, however, show back in all championships for which
he is qualified.
JUNIOR EXHIBITORS: Youth eligible for Junior Exhibitor
classes shall not have reached their 18th birthday as of December
1st of the previous calendar year (2006).
STALLIONS: May be shown by ladies and juniors in any class
permitting stallions.
OPEN: Class is open to all horses of any age, size or sex,
regardless of the ribbon previously won. There is no qualification
for driver, rider or handler.
HALF-ARABIAN/ANGLO-ARABIAN: May be shown in competition with
purebreds only as specified in class schedule.
MAIDEN, NOVICE, LIMIT HORSE: Classes are open to horses which
have not won one/three/ six first place ribbons respectively in
Regular Member Competitions of this Association or of the Canadian
Equestrian Federation in the particular performance division in
which they are shown, as of the closing date of this competition.
STALLS: and tack rooms are $65.00 each. Stalls will be
available from 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 8rth 2007 through 10:00
A.M. Monday, August 13th, 2007. The Barn or Show Manager must give
special permission for early arrival. There will be a $10.00 per
stall per day fee, payable to MAHA of arrivals prior to scheduled
availability date and time. Exhibitors will be required to rent one
stall per horse (except brood mares with suckling foals) and payment
remitted with the Stall Reservation Form. Every attempt will be made
to honor special requests on a paid, first come, first served basis.
Stalls are box types with full doors and lockable latches. No
initial bedding is provided. Shavings are available for purchase or
the exhibitor may furnish his/her own. NO STRAW ALLOWED. Stall walls
may not be removed for any reason.
GROUND FEE: Any horse staying on ground for only one day will
be charged a fee of $20.00. Any horse staying on the grounds over
night must have a stall. Exhibitors will be assessed full stall
fees. Contact the Barn Manager for stall assignments.
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: Governing admission of horses for the
MAHA Fall Classic: All horses shall be accompanied by the original
laboratory chart of negative Equine Infectious Anemia (Coggins Test)
made within twelve (12) months, with proper animal identification
listed thereon. Photocopies WILL NOT be accepted.
VETERINARIAN INSPECTION: All animals are subject to a
physical inspection, free of charge, by the Show Veterinarian as
safeguard against communicable disease. In cases of suspected
unsoundness, the judge may have the animal examined by the Show
Veterinarian and that decision shall be final. No exhibitor may use
another veterinarian’s statement to contradict the judge’s decision.
DRUGS AND MEDICATIONS: The drug and medication rule contained
in Rule IV, Art. 401 will be enforced principally by the saliva,
blood and urine tests taken by a veterinarian or skilled technician
who are agents of USAEQ, and who must be treated with respect.
CAUTION: Refusal to submit a horse for examination, whether in
competition or not, and to cooperate with the veterinarian and
technicians until samples have been taken constitutes a violation
and subjects the responsible person to the penalties under the rule.
Classes in exemption are 1) leadline, 2) exhibitions, 3) games and
races and 4) classes for 4-H members; however, these classes are not
exempt for the Drugs and Medications rule itself.
ARENA DIMENSIONS AND FOOTING:
Main (indoor) arena: 137 x 250. The footing is River Silt.
Outdoor covered arena: 140 x 150. The footing is River Silt and Clay
mixture. ½ of the arena is covered.
MOTORIZED VEHICLES: Minors who do not have a valid
driver's license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in
the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a
motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf
carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the
competition grounds of recognized competitions. Minors who
have a valid temporary license may operate the above described
motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with
a valid driver's license. Violations of this rule will be
cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s), and/or
trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the
competition and charges being filed against any of the above
individuals in accordance with Rule 6. Wheelchairs and other
mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are
exempt from this rule. GR1401 effective 12/01/05.
RV & CAMPER HOOK UPS: Hook Ups will be assigned on a
first-come first-serve basis. A rate of $25 per day will be charged.
Bath house is available.
CATTLE CHARGES: Cattle charges will not be refunded if the
exhibitor cancels the class or does not come to the show. Cattle are
ordered based on the entries received.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES: or consultations performed by the show
Veterinarian or Farrier outside the show ring shall be on a private
fee basis.
NONRESPONSIBILITY CLAUSE: All entries are accepted with the
understanding that the Mississippi Arabian Horse Association, its
officers, any of the sponsors of the show, or the Mississippi Horse
Park will not be held responsible for any accidents or damages done
to any owner, horse, groom, attendant, or their equipment at this
show.
AHA MEMBERSHIP: All trainers, riders, halter handlers and
owners must belong to AHA or pay the appropriate non-member fee
($15.00) in order to participate in the show. The fee is assessed on
a per horse/per person basis. In addition, if you are currently
under contract on a horse or if you have not received current papers
from the Registry then you must present a Bill of Sale or copy of
Transfer of Ownership. Without these items you will also be required
to pay a non-member fee for the previous owner (name appearing on
the papers) or present proof of their IAHA membership.
USAEQ MEMBERSHIP: LIFE, SENIOR ACTIVE AND JUNIOR ACTIVE MEMBERS
SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL CLASSES AT REGULAR MEMBER
COMPETITIONS, EVENTING COMPETITIONS AT THE PRELIMINARY LEVEL OR
ABOVE AND COMBINED DRIVING COMPETITIONS AT THE ADVANCED LEVEL,
DRESSAGE AND VAULTING COMPETITIONS AND ENDURANCE RIDES PROVIDED THE
RESPECTIVE BREED/DISCIPLINE DUES OR BREED/DISCIPLINE CATEGORY FEE
HAS BEEN PAID. A NON-MEMBER MAY PARTICIPATE AS A HANDLER, RIDER,
DRIVER, OWNER, LESSEE, AGENT, COACH OR TRAINER AT REGULAR
COMPETITIONS, EVENTING COMPETITIONS, DRESSAGE COMPETITIONS AND
COMBINED DRIVING COMPETITIONS UPON PAYMENT OF A $20.00 NON-MEMBER
REGISTRATION FEE AND A $5.00 BREED/DISCIPLINE CATEGORY FEE FOR EACH
BREED/DISCIPLINE. PARTICIPANTS IN THE FOLLOWING CLASSES ARE EXEMPTED
FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS RULE; 1) LEADLINE; 2) EXHIBITIONS; 3)
GAMES AND RACES; 4) CLASSES FOR 4-H MEMBERS; 5) WALK TROT AND
ACADEMY CLASSES (Academy classes are classes limited to horses used
regularly in a lesson program); 6)USDF INTRODUCTORY LEVEL TESTS, PAS
DE DEUX AND QUADRILLE CLASSES; 7) NRHA ENDORSED REINING
COMPETITIONS; 8) OPPORTUNITY CLASSES; 9) CITIZENS OF OTHER NATIONS
WHO HAVE PROOF, IN ENGLISH, OF CURRENT MEMBERSHIP IN GOOD STANDING
OF THEIR OWN NATIONAL FEDERATION; 10)USEA BEGINNER NOVICE DIVISION;
AND 11) ASSISTANT HANDLERS IN DRESSAGE SPORT HORSE BREEDING CLASSES.

CLASS
SPECIFICATIONS
MAHA
FUTURITY: To be eligible for the Mississippi Futurity a
foal must be registered with the Arabian Horse Registry or Arabian
Horse Association, it must be owned by a member in good standing of
MAHA at the time it is nominated, renominated or shown, and must be
properly nominated and renominated each year in accordance with the
rules. No entry fee shall be charged for the futurity classes except
those that may be assessed by USAE or AHA. Performance entries are
required to be four years old.
GRAND CHAMPION & RESERVE, ARABIAN AOTHAmateur
Owner Handlers placing First or Second in their respective classes
(Stallions, Mares, and Geldings) are to show back in this class.
This class is intended to encourage the AOTH and promote friendly
competition.
MOST CLASSIC ARABIAN: Open to
Purebred Stallions, Mares, and Geldings, two years old and older. To
be shown and judged in accordance with AHA Article 1610. Only one
ribbon will be awarded.
ARABIAN FREESTYLE LIBERTY: Open to
purebred Arabians, two years old and older. Entry will have 90
seconds alone in the ring; the horse will be turned loose to show at
liberty. When time is called, horse is to leave the ring. Horses
that are not caught within two minutes shall be disqualified. Two
handlers per horse are allowed. Horses will be judged on natural
free movement, type, presence, animation and carriage. Not to be
judged as a conformation class. Aids allowed: whips no longer than 6
feet in length. Exhibitor is responsible for music. Entry is at
owner’s own risk.
LEADLINE: Exhibitors shall be at
least two years of age and have not reached their 7th
birthday. To be led into the ring on the rail at a walk. Attire may
be of any discipline recognized by AHA. Ref to Article 1411-OTHER
DISCIPLINES. Awards to be presented to all participants. Entry fee
is $10.00. Open to Arabians and HA/AA. STALLIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
WALK/TROT AOTR: This class is open
is open to AOTR of Purebred and HA/AA. Any attire recognized by AHA
is appropriate. Open to adult amateur owners or riders 11-17 who
have not shown in a class requiring a lope/canter nor may they show
in this competition in any other class requiring a lope/canter.
GET OF SIRE: Each entry shall consist
of at least two horses but no more than three entered under the name
of the sire- one handler per horse. More than one entry per sire is
permitted. To execute a walk or trot is optional, at the judge’s
discretion. Emphasis shall be placed upon reproductive likeness,
uniformity and quality of breed characteristics, and similarity.
JACKPOT BARRELS: This class is open
to purebreds and Half-Arabians. Entry fee of $25 will be jackpotted
and 100% will be paid as follows: 1st
– 50% 2nd-
30% 3rd-
20%
No ribbons or trophies will be awarded for this
class.
CUTTING: Cutting classes will be
conducted according to the Arabian Cutting Horse Association (TACHA)
Handbook. Non-Pro Classes are conducted as AOTR classes. Amateur
Classes are conducted as ATR classes.
IABS – DESIGNATED SWEEPSTAKES CLASSES:
Classes designated with an "IABS" in front of their usual name
are this show’s designated sweepstakes classes. These classes are
part of AHA’s revised Breeder’s Sweepstakes Program. Sweepstakes
exhibitors may earn points by placing in these classes. These points
will contribute to a Sweepstakes payout according to the revised
program rules. Non-Sweepstakes horses, while they do not participate
in the points pay-out program, may, if otherwise qualified, enter
these classes.
REGION 12 WORKING COW HORSE CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Top Five Awards will be made regardless of the number of entries in
a class. However, only awards made to the top 50% of the class
(rounded up and not to exceed 5 awards) will receive International
Breeders Sweepstakes payout, AHA Horse Achievement Award, Amateur
Achievement Award, High Point Horse Achievement Award, High Point
Amateur Achievement Award and Distance Award Points.
